Position Summary The Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VPS) Development office (OOD), a part of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), is dedicated to facilitating relationships that support the vision and mission of CUIMC and VPS to advance medical education, achieve scientific breakthroughs, and provide the best possible patient care across a range of specialized departments, centers and programs. OOD is looking for a highly motivated individual to work with the Business Intelligence Team. The Reporting Analyst will primarily create reports and dashboards, assist in training department staff in knowledge and use of data reporting tools, and maintain the OOD SharePoint site. The incumbent will report to the Director of Business Intelligence Reporting, and work with Gift Officers and other members of the fundraising team to review reporting priorities, manage and coordinate reporting projects, and streamline delivery of reporting data. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for creating and distributing the department's scheduled and ad-hoc reports using Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS), Tableau Desktop, Excel, and PowerPoint, using PLSQL and T-SQL to write Oracle and SQL Server database queries. The incumbent will liaison with the OOD staff to analyze their business reporting needs, document requirements, and work with staff through the reporting development life cycle from analysis and design, and testing and delivery, to user training. Also, the incumbent will conduct analysis into reported errors found in department reports by finding and documenting the root cause, and proposing appropriate actions and solutions to mitigate errors. Furthermore, the incumbent will work with the OOD staff and the CUIMC IT department to maintain the OOD SharePoint (Online) site and oversee its design, simplifying staff s needs to find and consume relevant SharePoint content in SharePoint easily while leveraging SharePoint best practices as needed. To that effect, the incumbent will serve as the department's primary support contact for SharePoint. Responsibilities Create, maintain, and distribute reports and dashboards for department, provide user support and training, and document business requirements and objectives 65 Design and maintain the OOD SharePoint site, organize its contents, and provide necessary training to OOD staff 20 Manage and coordinate department reporting and SharePoint projects, and ensure that standard project documentation is developed and actively maintained 15 Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with and proficiency of Tableau Desktop, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and Microsoft Project. Other Requirements Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, and organizational skills are necessary for this role. The incumbent must possess technical and analytical work experience and proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Oracle PLSQL, Microsoft T-SQL, and Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The incumbent must have experience managing reporting projects, with first hand report development, and data manipulation using Excel (using pivot and dashboard functions). The incumbent must have experience in thoroughly documenting business requirements, and objectives, and maintaining project documentation with respect to reports and SharePoint. The incumbent must work well independently and as a member of the team and must be skilled in handling multiple deadline driven assignments paying close attention to detail. The incumbent must demonstrate sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential matters.
