Reporting to the VP, Strategic Development, the Director - Aircraft Lease Management will be responsible for the optimal management of all Atlas Air, Southern Air, and Polar aircraft and engine leases for assets operated by one of its airline operating certificates, by maintaining oversight of all aircraft and engine leases, whether they are pure operating dry leases, CMI leases, or some other type. The individual will create and implement best practices in coordination with several departments within the company including: Tech Ops, System Ops, Treasury, Legal, and other teams.
Actively track the status of each leased aircraft and proactively monitor all critical dates and events for management action; Coordinate with responsible department to ensure relevant lease covenants are met
Participate in the Quarterly Lease Review Meeting with Accounting, FP&A, and Treasury teams to monitor and manage aircraft return conditions
Work closely with the Technical Operations and Legal teams to manage all aircraft lease related issues
Align aircraft lease renewals/ expiries with the Company's Fleet Plan in coordination with Commercial, FP&A, Treasury, and Procurement teams
Review lease language and interface with the Technical department to drive decisions that maximize financial/ strategic value for the organization vis--vis aircraft return conditions and other such matters
Interpret complex aircraft lease language and concepts, be a subject matter expert within the company to advise on lease-related questions and issues as it relates to new lease negotiations or any proposed aircraft investments
Develop and maintain a summary of all rights and requirements indicated in every lease agreement related to aircraft or engines
Process new lease documents, lease amendments and extensions/renewals. Ensure electronic files are up to date with all new documents and lease details regarding each aircraft.
Design and manage lease data collection and reporting systems. Ensure that digital and physical files are accurate, consistent, and up-to-date, overseeing and managing file maintenance, quality control, and data review procedures
Collaborate with the IT to maintain and ensure effective usage of lease management software and other systems.
Support the lease execution process, payment of deposits, coordination of deliveries and onboarding of aircraft as well as the return of existing aircraft
Manage and coordinate correspondence with lessors and lessees as needed
Review monthly invoices to ensure accuracy for all items including but not limited to monthly rent, supplemental rent and return condition
Monitor and ensure organizational compliance with all rights and requirements indicated in every lease agreement related to aircraft or engines
Ensure any operating limitations are communicated to and being adhered by System Operations and all other operational departments as necessary
Ideally 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in aircraft lease management, technical asset management, or aircraft maintenance planning
The ideal candidate would have a solid understanding of aircraft leases from a technical, commercial, and legal compliance perspective
Experience working in aircraft technical management or lease administration within an airline or aircraft lessor would be preferred
Strong analytical skills with an ability to work effectively in a high-growth environment
Detail oriented with effective leadership and communication skills to address issues at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
An undergraduate degree in aviation management, engineering, business or economics and ideally, an M.B.A.
